2004 Zinfandel

Our estate grown grapes of Zinfandel were started from vine cuttings taken from what is known as an “old vine” or ancient Zinfandel vineyard in Oakley, California, and also from a southern Oregon vineyard located in the Applegate area.

The Winemaker’s Notes:
In the Vineyard: De-leafing the vines in the vineyard resulted in an open canopy with exposure to the southeast. Fruit was hand harvested on October 14, 2004 @ 25.5 Brix.

Bottled:
July 28, 2006 producing 204 cases
( 2448 bottles ) with each bottle numbered consecutively.
This wine was very lightly filtered which leaves the wine with more true flavors and colors. You may find some residual sediment left in the bottom of the bottle.

Tasting Notes:
A full-bodied wine with very nice depth of color and complex fruit character. The characteristics of the Zinfandel grape definitely come through in this vintage also expressing the Terroir of our site. The velvety tannins and amazing fruit give this wine structure with alluring aromas rich with complex berry fruit flavors and spicy, even peppery characteristics.
